Joseph Tyree, a Long Island New York native, received his Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University in 1991. After graduating, Joe worked in New York City for Bruce Kelly/David Varnell and then for Edwina von Gal & Company. In 1996 he started his own firm based in Sag Harbor, New York with a focus on residential landscape design.
Joe Tyree’s designs combine strong structural elements of classical gardens with the clean simple lines of modernism. His gardens both respond to the architecture and local landscape that surround them and create a restful environment all their own. His extensive horticultural knowledge allows him to create garden spaces with plants appropriate to a site. Joe demands a very high level of craftsmanship and works closely with his small office to oversee all aspects of landscape design and execution.
Joe has designed and built over 100 gardens on the East End of Long Island and beyond and his work has been celebrated in such publications as Metropolitan Home, Hampton Cottage & Garden and Architectural Digest.
